I'm wondering if adding accelerated mobile pages is going to improve the search engine optimization on my site? My site is not an online news website. If I add AMP to my site, will google recognize my site as having higher value than that of my competitors? I've heard that as of now, google is not giving higher value to websites that have made the AMP change.

Additionally, I am confused as to how AMP is being implemented. Once AMP is added, do users on smartphones automatically get led to the AMP version? I heard that mobile device users will still have to switch back between responsive design and AMP. Please clarify.
