Can I noindex URLs that have self-referencing canonical tags in place? I understand that the noindex tag sends mixed signals when placed on URLs where the canonical tag points to a different preferred URL. However, I see more and more CMS tools that auto generate self-referencing canonical tags on URLs and it seems google isn't having problems noindexing these when noindex meta robots tags are also in place. Just wanted to pose this question because it's been a topic of debate at my workplace.
