Bots spamming my WordPress blog comments

Hello,

I want to know why bots are spamming my WordPress blog comments. My theory is that it is for backlinks, but aren't all WordPress comment links nofollow? I am just curious as to what these robots think they are gaining by flooding my blog comments section.

Many websites' owners do not differentiate a dofollow from a nofollow link nor a low spam score link from a high spam score link. That's why some link builders show/deliver those useless links to their clients, and clients are very happy at first.
