Hello.

I've been searching for the best way to use categories on my website. my website is about home appliances. There are 5 categories of the appliance (washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, cookers & ovens, fridge & freezers).

My dilemma is that they all share the same subcategories, i.e. reviews, safety issues, spares, using, buying, repairs advice, etc.. So which is the best way to do it, please?

Washing Machines
  • Reviews
  • Spares
  • DIY Repairs
  • Safety
  • Consumer

Tumble Dryers
  • Reviews
  • Spares
  • DIY Repairs
  • Safety
  • Consumer
OR

Reviews
  • Washing Machines
  • Tumble Dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Fridge & Freezers
  • Cookers & Ovens

Spares
  • Washing Machines
  • Tumble Dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Fridge & Freezers
  • Cookers & Ovens

Thanks in advance

Hi,

That's a great question. I would keep the main categories as close as possible to the root domain.

My silo structure would look something like this:

webiste.com/washing-machines - Main category

webiste.com/washing-machines/safety-issues - Subcategory

webiste.com/washing-machines/reviews - Subcategory

webiste.com/washing-machines/spares -Subcategory

webiste.com/washing-machines/buying - Subcategory

Yes, You are right. I'm doing the same as you think.
